Flashes of Fiction: Let this cup pass from us

Hey. Tirzah here.

My character has started a new weekly challenge for me. This task is to write a flash fiction piece of no more nor fewer than 100 words (commonly known as a drabble,) based on whatever prompt I find, every Tuesday.
Consider yourselves encouraged to write a drabble of your own, based on the prompt or otherwise inspired by the vignette below.

Today’s prompt:

We took castles in the clouds.

We were given worlds and wars, friends and foes, loves and hates, forests and cities, magics and philosophies, and anything else our spirits required, bound in images, words, and imagination—in tales.

We took of fiction. We tasted danger in safety. Sorrow with satisfaction. Company without risk.

Whatever we sought, light or darkness, truth or lies, fact or fancy, ourselves or others, was granted us for consumption.

We took cover in the safety of pretended adventures. We fell asleep and drank a thousand dreams.

We need never awake and drink of our own story.
